Advances on the role of neutrophils in the occurrence and development of periodontitis

Abstract: Abstract: Neutrophils in gingival crevice are the first line against invading periodontal pathogens. During the course of infection, neutrophils are the first cells recruited to the site of inflammation and can kill pathogens through phagocytosis, degranulation, respiratory burst and some other means. This paper summarized the research progress on the roles of neutrophils in the occurrence and development of periodontitis.
