Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression of specific sequence AT protein 2(SATB2),NANOG,octamerbinding transcription factor(OCT4) in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and its relationship with clinical pathological characteristics of oral squamous cell carcinoma. Methods Immunohistochemistry was used to examine the expression of SATB2,NANOG and OCT4 in oral squamous cell carcinoma and normal oral mucosa. Results The expressions of SATB2,NANOG and OCT4 were higher in OSCC than in normal oral mucosa, and the difference was statistically significant (P>0.05).The expression of SATB2,NANOG and OCT4 protein was unrelated with tumor grade, clinical stage, neck lymphnode metastasis(P>0.05),and the expression of SATB2,OCT4 protein was unrelated with local invasion (P>0.05).The expression of NANOG protein was related with local invasion (P<0.05).Conclusions SATB2,NANOG and OCT4 were highly expressed in oral squamous carcinoma tissues, which could be a tumor marker and used as targets of treatment. The expression of NANOG was associated with tumor invasion ability; it may play an important role in promoting the invasion and metastasis of OSCC.
