Abstract: Cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein-4 (CTLA-4) has been identified functioning as an immune checkpoint, downregulates the immune system. Susceptibility to the periodontitis is influenced by gene polymorphisms related to the immune response. This parper reviewed the CTLA-4 inflammatory immune response and evaluated the association of CTLA-4 polymorphisms with periodontitis.
