A chronic periodontitis patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus who lost follow up for 7 years after periodontal non-surgical treatment: A case analysis

Abstract: Abstract: As the sixth complication of diabetes mellitus, the development and progression of periodontitis is closely associated with metabolic management. To chronic periodontitis patients, metabolic control and regular reexamination are the key to successful treatments. This report described a case of chronic periodontitis patient who was suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus with poor control of blood glucose and had no regular reexamination, the periodontal destruction was much more serious than chronic periodontitis only and developed much faster, which condition emphasized the importance of good glycemic control and regular reexamination in treatment.
