Abstract: Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) is a kind of strong mitogen and can promote cells mitosis which derived from the mesoderm and neural ectoderm, thus promote the repair and regeneration of tissues. Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) with the potential of high proliferation, self-renewal and multi-directional differentiation are thought to be one kind of the ideal seed cells in the tooth tissue engineering and have a promising application prospect in dental pulp tissue repair and regeneration. Recent studies have found that bFGF has an important role on migration, proliferation and differentiation of DPSCs. This article summarizes its research progress.
