Abstract: Traumatic occlusion is a state of occlusion that causes occlusal trauma. Occlusal abnormality is not always traumatic occlusion, and an apparent normal occlusion may be traumatic occlusion. Due to the lack of a clear diagnostic criteria, traumatic occlusion is a difficult problem in clinical cognition. This article aims to explain the concept of occlusion and propose the concept of occlusal trauma syndrome for the diagnosis of traumatic occlusion.
