Abstract

Abstract: Inflammation around osseointegrated implants, including periimplant mucositis and periimplantitis, is one of the major causes of implant failure.The occurrence, development, treatment and prevention of periimplantitis are similar to periodontitis. This article analogizes periimplantitis to periodontitis in the aspects of epidemiology, histopathologic changes, initiating factors, risk factors, treatment and prevention to explore how to better prevent and treat periimplantitis.
