The occlusal factors, as a kind of factors affecting the temporomandibular joint disorders, play a pushing role in the occurrence and development of temporomandibular joint disorders. The curve of occlusion, as the representative, plays an important role in the pathogenesis of TMD. The occlusion, temporomandibular joint and masticatory muscles constitute the core of oral masticatory system, which interrelate with and influence each other.
