Abstract: Objective To evaluate the relationship between the depth of the curve of Spee and dental arch morphology. Methods 150 Uygur adults(62 males and 88 females) between the age of 18 and 25 were selected and divided into two groups. Dental casts of all subjects were taken.By means of computer software, the depth of the curve of Spee, the width of the cusp tips of the canines, the width of the cusp tips of the molars and the length of dental arch were measured. Results The depth of the curve of Spee was not affected by sex, there was significantly statistical difference between the depths of the left and the right curve of Spee of the identical individual. Dental arch morphology was affected by the gender factors, but not influenced by the depth of the curve of Spee. Conclusion In clinical practice, the depth of the curve of Spee can be used as a reference plane for occlusal reconstruction and orthodontic treatment.
