Abstract: Abstract Objective: To investigate if there are any significant differences in torque control of the upper and lower anterior teeth of patients treated with active and passive self-ligating brackets. Methods: Forty patients treated using Empower or Damon self-ligating brackets (20 Empower and 20 Damon) were selected . SNA,SNB,ANB,MP-SN and inclination of incisors before and after treatment in the 2 groups were analyzed by cephalometrics. The changes of cephalometric measurements were analyzed by spss13.0 software. Results: There were no significant differences of cephalometric measurements between the 2 groups before treatment. There were no significant differences of SNA,SNB,ANB,MP-SN before and after treatment in the 2 groups .Inclination of incisors after treatment were less than pretherapy in the 2 groups . Inclination of upper incisors after treatment in Empower group were bigger than Damon group. The angle of L1-MP after treatment in Empower group was less than Damon group. The angle of L1-NB after treatment in Empower group was less than Damon group, but no significant difference. Conclusion: The torque capacity of active self ligating brackets were better than passive self-ligating brackets.
