Abstract: Periodontal disease is very common in dental clinic, which is caused by many kinds of factors of chronic progressive disease. The disease progress often leads to the patient's teeth looseness, shift, elongation and missing, which further results in malocclusion and teeth trauma, causing much trouble to the patients’ daily life. For the treatment of periodontal disease, the main emphasis of previous clinical treatment is periodontal non-surgical treatment,such as supragingival scaling,subgingival scaling,root planing and so on,cooperating with western medicine therapy. Although western medicine has some therapeutic effect, but it also has the potential of drug resistance. In recent years, with the further emphasis on Chinese medicine, TCM treatment of periodontal disease has become more and more widely used in oral clinic. In order to help clinical medical workers understand and master the traditional Chinese medicine method, the research progress of TCM treatment of periodontal disease will be reviewed in this paper.
