Abstract: Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) is one of the most common oral and maxillofacial diseases. And malocclusion changes the stress load of masticatory muscles and ligaments due to the abnormal relationship between the upper and lower jaw bone position and the occlusal contact of teeth, which causes the changes of condyle and articular fossa shape and position. As a result, it is easy to induce the occurrence of temporomandibular disorders. This paper reviews the effects of different types of malocclusions on temporomandibular joint.
