Progress of research on the role of tumor associated macrophages in OSCC

Abstract: Tumor associated macrophages (TAMs) are important immune cells and inflammatory cells in tumor microenvironment, and play an important role in the initiation, progression, invasion and metastasis of human cancers. In this essay, the origin, polarization of TAMs and their clinical effect on oral cancer and precancerous lesions are discussed. The role of TAMs in cancer invasion and metastasis is also studied, in order to provide new ideas and strategies for OSCC research and treatment.
