Abstract: Porphyromonas gingivalis (P. g) is a gram-negative anaerobic bacterium, which is the main pathogen of periodontitis, especially chronic periodontitis. Studies have shown that periodontitis is related to adverse pregnancy outcomes (APO). This process involves a variety of pathophysiological mechanisms, and P. g, as one of the key periodontal pathogens, plays an important role. At present, our understanding of the relationship between P. g and APO and its mechanism of interaction is still limited. This paper intends to review the direct or indirect evidence of the relationship between P. g and APO in recent years, and to make a review of the relationship and mechanism of interaction between P. g and APO.
