Research progress of fibromodulin in oral diseases

Abstract: Fibromodulin is a small leucine-rich proteoglycan. It plays an important physiological role in the formation and maturation of dental tissue, the development of alveolar bone and the composition of joint structure. It also participates in the occurrence of periodontal disease, caries, temporomandibular joint disease and other pathological states. This article reviews the physiological function, pathological effect and potential clinical application of fibromodulin in oral diseases.
