Research progress on the role of DHA and EPA in periodontitis

Abstract: Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) are two members of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (ω-3 PUFAs).They have a lot of beneficial biological effects,such as preventing and treating angiocardiopathy,improving the development of brain cells.They are also anticancer and anti-inflammatory.This article will review the research progress on the anti-inflammatory effects of DHA and EPA,as well as their role in periodontitis.
