Success and failure of root canal therapy in one hundred years

Abstract: Abstract: Root canal therapy was developed in the middle of 19th century, and it has been improved in many aspects over the past hundred years, including the concept, therapeutic apparatus, antiseptic and filling materials. However, the prognosis of root canal therapy has not been significantly improved. Therefore, this article took root canal anatomy as the breakthrough point, and discussed the site of open access, root canal preparation, root canal disinfection, root canal filling and the success rate, in order to objectively evaluate the success and failure of root canal therapy.
