Clinical application in treating mesially impacted mandibular second molar with modified lingual arch

Abstract: Objective To evaluate the efficacy of the modified lingual arch in treating the mandibular mesially inclined second molar. Methods Five patients with second molar mesial impact were included in this study. They were dragged and uprighted with modified lingual arch,then the clinical effect was observed and evaluated by panoramic radiograph. Results All of the mesially impacted mandibular second molars were upright and brought into occlusion. The average treatment period was 5 months. Conclusion The modified lingual arch is effective in erecting the mesially impacted mandibular second molar.
