Abstract: Hyaluronic acid is an acidic mucopolysaccharide. It has unique molecular structure and physicochemical properties. It has many important physiological functions in vivo, such as lubricating joints, regulating vascular permeability, regulating protein, water electrolyte diffusion and operation, and promoting wound healing. At present, hyaluronic acid has been widely used in clinical. This review describes the structure, synthesis and metabolism of hyaluronic acid and its application in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
