Abstract: Runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2) is a protein transcription factor, which is involved in a variety of biological processes. In recent years, studies have shown that Runx2 is a key regulator of condylar cartilage development, involving in the process of condylar cartilage proliferation and differentiation, functional remodeling and pathological changes. This article reviews the effects of Runx2 on the development, remodeling and joint diseases of mandibular condylar cartilage.
