Abstract:

Adenoid hypertrophy is a common disease in children and the incidence has been on the rise in recent years. Adenoid hypertrophy in children can cause sinusitis, otitis media, obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, psychological and behavioral problems, etc., affecting the normal growth and development of children. Adenoid hypertrophy is the main cause of mouth breathing due to narrowing of the upper airway, which can result in the formation of adenoid facies, affecting the normal development of the maxillofacial region and leading to the occurrence of malocclusion. This article reviews the relevant research progress of the mechanisms, types, and treatment of malocclusion caused by adenoid hypertrophy.
