Abstract:

Vertical root fractures(VRFs)are complete or incomplete longitudinal fractures that occur in the root. In recent years, cone beam CT(CBCT)has been widely used in the diagnosis of VRFs because of its extremely high spatial resolution. However, various artifacts may exist on CBCT images, which will affect the performance of CBCT in diagnosing VRFs. In this paper, CBCT artifacts in the diagnosis of VRFs were reviewed, and how to reduce artifacts as much as possible in scanning, and differential diagnosis of artifacts and fracture lines were discussed.
