Accidental ingestion of an endodontic file in dental practice of root canal treatment- A case report

Abstract: Root canal treatment is an effective method for the treatment of pulpitis and apical periodontitis. However, the process of root canal treatment is complicated, time-consuming, and requires variety of instruments. While, ingestion and aspiration of foreign bodies often occur during the treatment. This case mainly discussed the accidental swallowing of the instrument during the process of the root canal treatment. During this process, CT and an array of abdominal radiographs were taken, which can reveal the location of the file and assist clinicians in taking effective measures to prevent serious complications.
