Abstract:

The good alveolar bone shape and sufficient bone mass are of great significance to the success of implantation. Some patients have moderate to severe alveolar bone defect before tooth extraction; thus the alveolar bone could not reach the ideal height and width after socket healing, which increases the difficulty of implantation. Socket preservation, as a common clinical method, can reduce alveolar bone absorption and maintain soft tissue contour. This article will review the research progress of socket preservation in oral implantation.
