Abstract

Abstract:

Obesity may increase the prevalence of periodontitis, exacerbate the destruction of periodontal tissues, and affect the prognosis of periodontal treatment. This article aims to summarize the effects and potential mechanisms of obesity-related adipokines, oxidative stress, oral microbiota, insulin resistance, and psychological stress on periodontitis, in order to provide guidance for the comprehensive management of patients with obesity and periodontitis in clinical practice.
