Abstract:

The naturally occurring curve of Spee in human dentition is crucial for masticatory movement and occlusal balance. Changes in the position and alignment of the patient's teeth during orthodontic treatment involve adjustment of the curve of Spee, and a long-term stable curve of Spee is closely related to the stability of orthodontic treatment. This paper reviews the research progress of the curve of Spee in orthodontics, including the development process, influencing factors, measurement methods, means of leveling, maintenance and recurrence, to provide guidance for future orthodontic clinical diagnosis and treatment of patients with an abnormal curve of Spee.

Key words: curve of Spee, occlusal curve, craniofacial morphology, orthodontic
