Abstract:

Periodontal infrabony defects are common bone defects in periodontitis. Traditional bone grafting only possesses osteoconductivity, with grafts prone to displacement and a high risk of barrier membrane exposure. The plasma matrix bone block, formed by mixing platelet-rich fibrin with bone granules to create a three-dimensional fibrin scaffold, also known as sticky bone, exhibits both osteoconductive and osteoinductive activities. It can slowly release multiple growth factors, stabilize bone particles, and prevent displacement. This article reviews the material properties of the plasma matrix bone block and its current clinical application in periodontal infrabony defects, aiming to provide a reference for periodontal regenerative therapy.
